The Melle Story
More than a century ago, a stone mason left the town of Melle, Germany and immigrated to the United States in the 1880s. Stone masons of that era helped build the foundations of towns, bridges, and buildings meant to last for generations.
That craftsman was Steve Brinkmann’s great-great‑grandfather.
Today the name Melle lives on through Melle Management LLC. While construction methods have evolved, the principles remain the same – understand the structure, respect the materials, and do the work the right way.

Steve Brinkmann founded Melle Management LLC to bring disciplined project management and renovation expertise to complex construction projects throughout the St. Louis region.
With nearly three decades of experience spanning telecommunications infrastructure, large-scale property portfolios, historic building renovations, and capital improvement programs, Steve approaches construction with a clear focus on planning, coordination, and execution.
The name Melle reflects a long family tradition of building. Steve’s great-great-grandfather was a stone mason who immigrated from Melle, Germany, in the 1880s. Like many craftsmen of that era, his work was rooted in durability, problem-solving, and pride in building things that would last. More than a century later, that same mindset continues through Steve’s work in renovation and construction management.
Over the course of his career, Steve has led projects across a wide range of complex construction environments, including telecommunications infrastructure, disaster recovery work, historic building restoration, and large-scale real estate renovation programs.
Earlier in his career, Steve managed construction and real estate development projects across a three-state region for AT&T, overseeing the development and commissioning of more than one hundred wireless infrastructure facilities per year while managing annual capital budgets exceeding $20 million.
He later served as Director of Facilities and Capital Improvements for Red Brick Management, where he oversaw redevelopment and capital construction across more than 200 historic residential and commercial properties throughout the St. Louis region.
Steve also led capital renovation programs for Mills Properties, helping manage improvement planning and renovations across a multifamily portfolio of more than 6,000 units.
Throughout these roles, Steve developed a reputation for something simple but uncommon in construction: the ability to see the entire project clearly before the work begins. His approach focuses on identifying structural and logistical issues early, building realistic scopes of work, and coordinating the many moving parts that make complex projects successful.
Alongside his corporate leadership experience, Steve has remained deeply involved in hands-on renovation and property improvement projects throughout the St. Louis region. His work has included everything from infrastructure development and disaster recovery to historic restoration and residential renovation.
Today, through Melle Management LLC, Steve brings that same disciplined, experience-driven approach to renovation and construction projects for property owners, investors, and developers.
His philosophy is simple:

Steve now lives in New Melle, Missouri, a town founded in the 1800s by German immigrants from the same region of Germany as his great-great-grandfather. More than a century after the Brinkmann family first arrived in America, that Connection feels like a fitting full-circle moment in a family story built on craftsmanship, endurance, and pride in the work.
