Four Generations of Builders
From a German stone mason in the 1880s to modern renovation and construction management in St. Louis today, the Brinkmann family tradition of building continues through Melle Management LLC.
1880s – Stone Mason in Melle, Germany
Family roots in traditional masonry craftsmanship. Steve Brinkmann’s great-great-grandfather, Mathias Brinkmann, immigrated from Melle, Germany and worked as a stone mason, establishing a family tradition of building that continues today.
1980s – The Brinkmann Workshop
Growing up in his father and grandfather’s workshop, Steve was surrounded by a hands-on environment where things were built, repaired, and often invented from scratch. It was here that he developed the mindset that continues to guide his work today: if something needs to be done right, build it.
1990s – Early Construction Career
Developed hands-on construction experience while designing and building projects from the ground up, combining practical field work with technical planning and structural layout.
2004–2014 – AT&T Infrastructure Projects
Managed construction and development of wireless infrastructure across a multi-state region, coordinating contractors, engineers, and municipalities to deliver large-scale telecommunications projects.
2014–2019 – Disaster Response & Infrastructure Coordination
Served on AT&T’s emergency response team coordinating engineers, contractors, and local officials to restore communications infrastructure following major disasters. After the Joplin tornado, Steve directed deployment of temporary cellular towers to restore critical service for first responders and residents.
2018–2022 – Historic Buildings & Capital Renovation Programs
Directed major capital improvement and facilities projects across historic properties in the St. Louis region, coordinating contractors, engineers, and preservation efforts to maintain and modernize large building portfolios.
Today — Melle Management LLC
Founder of Melle Management LLC, leading full-scale residential renovations and complex construction projects throughout the St. Louis region. Steve is known for a hands-on approach that blends craftsmanship, problem solving, and disciplined project management.
